Why is there a transaction fee?
We handle all payment processing, fraud prevention, refunds, and payouts through Stripe Connect. The fee covers Stripe costs (~2.9%) plus our platform. As you grow, upgrading reduces your fee—the savings often exceed the plan difference.
Why can't I get my own app on Starter?
Apple rejects "template apps" (many similar apps from one developer). On Growth, your community runs inside our shared Container App but looks 100% like yours with your branding. On Scale, we publish to YOUR App Store account.
Can I set my own vendor commission?
Yes! You decide how much vendors pay you (0-30%). This is independent of our platform fee. Example: You set 10%, we charge 5% (Starter). Vendor pays 15% total, you keep 10%. Full control over your marketplace economics.
How fast are vendor payouts?
Vendors get paid within 2-7 business days depending on product category. Digital products and established sellers qualify for faster payouts. Growth and Scale plans can negotiate shorter hold periods based on track record.
What does the fee cap mean?
Our transaction fees are capped per item to protect high-ticket sellers. On Starter (5% fee), a $2,000 coaching package only pays $5—not $100. This makes Sodium viable for physical goods and premium services.
What happens to my data?
You own your data. Unlike Facebook or Instagram, we never sell your community data or show third-party ads. You can export your member list, content, and analytics at any time. Your community, your data, your rules.
What if I outgrow my plan?
Upgrade anytime with no downtime or data loss. We'll even email you when upgrading saves you money based on your transaction volume. Our break-even calculator shows exactly when Growth or Scale makes financial sense.
Can I migrate my existing community?
Yes, we help you migrate from Facebook Groups, Discord, Slack, and other platforms. Our migration tools import your members, content, and history. Scale plan includes white-glove onboarding support.
